Sailor Mercury (Christmas) from Sailor Moon by TR Rose

Costume Details:

My friends and I put together a group of Christmas Sailor Scouts for Yulecon. These designs come from an artbook illustration where all the Sailors are little Christmas angels. The colors are bright and cheery, but there is little reference for these designs - only a single piece of artwork! You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find light blue stretch velvet... I really wanted something more aqua blue but the light periwinkle blue was all I could find anywhere. Of course I found the exact color velvet on clearance *after* the costume was done, but I wasn't about to remake the outfit at that point!

Outfit is made from stretch flat velvet ordered from Spandexworld online, sparkle fur trim, and white pompoms. I ordered the Leg Avenue angel wings, and completely overhauled them with loose feathers so they looked less Halloween-y. It went together very quickly and it's definitely something I plan to bring out every year at Christmas conventions!

I love this costume! It's cute and fluffy, and very comfy to make. I'm especially proud of how my boot covers turned out - it's my second set I've ever made, and I think they look great.
